Employee struck by SUV during shopping theft

An employee at a Bloomfield Township home store was injured on Saturday, November 27, while attempting to identify two women who allegedly tried to steal a shopping cart full of stolen merchandise.

Bloomfield Township police responded about 4:30 p.m. to the At Home store, 2101 S. Telegraph, after the employee was struck by a vehicle. Police said the employee saw two women leave the store with a shopping cart full of loose items. The employee approached the females and asked to see their sales receipt. The victim said the vehicle aggressively backed out of its parking space, striking the victim and leaving the merchandise.

The victim was transported to St. Joseph Hospital in Pontiac with injuries not believed to be life threatening. The women were last seen driving a red, mid-sized Cadillac SUV.

Police ask anyone with information about the incident to contact the Bloomfield Township Police Department at 248.433.7755.
