Ex-employee steals hundreds from local business

A former employee at a Birmingham business is believed to have stolen over $550 from the business’ account after writing an unauthorized check.

The business owner, whose business is in the 200 block of Pierce Street, reported on Wednesday, September 6, that the former employee changed the payee on the check to her husband without the business owner's knowledge.

The check was deposited and processed into the former employee's account.

Birmingham police say an investigation is ongoing.
