Farmers market anniversary celebration Sunday
Everyone is invited to celebrate the Birmingham Farmers Market 20th season with a milestone event this Sunday, August 7, from 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. during the market’s 20th Season Celebration event.
The event will include a special ceremony at 10 a.m. with remarks from local elected officials and community members including city of Birmingham Mayor Therese Longe and Birmingham Shopping District (BSD) Operations and Events Manager Jaimi Brook.
Throughout the day, visitors to the Birmingham Farmers Market will enjoy live country-style music performed by Fox and the Fiddle and very special kids’ activities, including a kids’ zone, petting zoo and a temporary tattoo artist.
Visitors can shop local produce, plants, artisan baked goods, fresh foods and more from over 45 vendors and food trucks.
Since 2002, the Birmingham Farmers Market has been providing a weekly place for area residents to shop for local agricultural products, fresh foods and other goods, as well as an opportunity to gather for fellowship, entertainment and family-friendly activities while supporting local vendors and businesses. The Birmingham Farmers Market supports local vendors that provide Michigan-grown and made agricultural and other products, several of which have participated in the market since its opening.
The Birmingham Farmers Market is located at 660 North Old Woodward Avenue in parking lot 6 and is open every Sunday from 9 a.m. – 2 p.m., May through October. The market offers Michigan-grown produce subject to local growing patterns. By mid-summer, shoppers will find bountiful produce including leafy greens, tomatoes, cucumbers, beans, blueberries, cherries, peaches, corn and more.
