Birmingham businesswoman Linda Dresner, recognized locally as well as in the New York and international fashion world as a fashion visionary, passed away on March 30 at the age of 88.
For 28 years, until March of 2021, she maintained the Linda Dresner boutique at 290 West Maple Road in Birmingham after spending a decade at the Somerset Collection in Troy. Dresner also maintained a boutique in New York on Park Avenue for 25 years.
Dresner built a reputation in the fashion industry over a 45-year period for her ability to both recognize up and coming talent and new designers in the industry. She also devoted considerable efforts on behalf of the College for Creative Studies in Detroit where she served as a board member and on the school’s Fashion Advisory Council, and through the Linda Dresner Endowed Chair at the creative institution.
There will be a service to celebrate her life on Monday, April 6, at the Ira Kaufman chapel starting at 10 a.m. Those wishing to donate in her memory are being directed to make contributions to the Museum of Contemporary Art Detroit (MOCAD).
