Foundation hires Community House director

The City of Birmingham Community House Foundation has hired Megan Callewaert McAdow as the executive director of the Community House.
McAdow comes to the Community House with a background in non-profit management and philanthropy that includes six years with the Ruth Mott Foundation and seven years as the director of the Marshall M. Fredericks Sculpture Museum, and more recently as a lecturer in marketing and fundraising at the University of Michigan Flint campus and her own consulting business launched in September of 2025.
The foundation board recently approved hiring McAdow who has already started in her new position, according to Birmingham Mayor Clinton Baller who also sits on the foundation board of directors.
Birmingham City Commissioners at a meeting on September 28 approved an agreement that provides that the executive director of the Community House would be a city employee “leased” out to the foundation, similar to the arrangement used for the Baldwin Public Library and its director. The employee’s daily work would be overseen by the foundation, but the city would be responsible for payroll, benefits and other employment items. The agreement covers the current city fiscal year which ends in June of 2027, at which time the commission will review the situation.
The pay package for the position includes an annual salary of $135,000 with $53,980 in fringe benefits.
The agreement was approved on a five to one vote of the commission, with commissioner Brad host casting the dissenting vote.
