Group assaulted by stranger on Willits Street

A group of people walking around 117 Willits Street in downtown Birmingham on Sunday, June 11, were punched by a stranger, causing two of the people to fall to the ground and sustain injuries.

According to reports, the group was attacked around 2:00 a.m. by a man, reportedly about five-feet, nine-inches tall with short curly hair, wearing a white t-shirt and jeans. The two victims who fell both had visible injuries, according to police, but refused to go to the hospital.

Birmingham police report that the two victims were advised to make a witness statement at the police department after one of them said he thought he had figured out who the attacker was.

Birmingham police report an investigation is ongoing.
