Historical items sought by township library

The Bloomfield Township Public Library, in partnership with the Bloomfield Historical Society on Sunday, November 1, will gather the community for the annual History Harvest event to help add to the township’s collection of historical items.
The History Harvest, taking place at the library from 1-3 p.m, is an opportunity for the public to help preserve local history by donating local history items. Yearbooks, photographs, city and telephone directories, printed ephemera (menus, advertisements, postcards), and other local publications (like newsletters) from the Bloomfield area and surrounding communities are of particular interest, officials said.
During the event, donations will be evaluated by a librarian and, if accepted, the items will become part of the Library’s history collection. The collection is available for in-library use and accessible online.
The event, open to the public, is also an opportunity for people to get answers to their local history research questions and to become more familiar with the library’s history collection and the Bloomfield Historical Society.
No registration is required to attend the event or to donate. More information is available by phoning the library at 248.642.5800 or visiting its website at www.btpl.org.
