Around 10 p.m. on Sunday, April 27, a Birmingham woman was rear-ended while stopped on westbound Maple at a traffic light and the driver reportedly fled the scene.

The woman told Birmingham police that her vehicle was damaged, but fortunately no one was injured.

A witness and the victim helped police track down the other driver by getting the vehicle license plate number, which came back to a 23-year-old Birmingham man.

Birmingham officers found him at his home and issued citations for failing to stop at the scene of a property damage accident and failure to stop within assured clearance distance ahead causing an accident.
