Home surveillance catches likely theft suspects

The home surveillance system of a home on the 700 block of Rivenoak Avenue in Birmingham captured footage of two unknown people walking up to the homeowner’s car and attempting to get in. 

The homeowner reported the footage to Birmingham police after her neighbor had let her know about recent thefts from cars in the neighborhood. She reportedly checked her surveillance after hearing about the thefts and found the Monday, May 18, incident which took place around 4 a.m. 

Birmingham police report that the footage also shows the pair walking away from her car after attempting to get in to attempt to break into other cars in the area. They say an investigation is ongoing.
