Hotel security officer assaulted twice in one night

A Ferndale woman working as a security officer for a Birmingham hotel, located on the 200 block of S. Old Woodward Avenue, was assaulted by a patron at the hotel bar twice on the night of Wednesday, November 27, after informing the patron he needed to leave an employee-only area.

The victim, reporting the incident to Birmingham police on Tuesday, December 3, told officers that when she initially told the patron to exit the employee-only area, he did so without an incident. She said between 10 to 15 minutes later, the patron shoved her, unprovoked, and was escorted out of the building.

While she was standing in the hotel vestibule with her back to the front door later that night, the same man shoved her again while trying to get back into the business. Birmingham police say an investigation is ongoing.
