Ice cream theft leads to drugs and auto larceny
Bloomfield Township police officers arrived on Saturday, April 1, to take a report of retail fraud from the Mobil Gas Station at 3975 Telegraph Road on reports of stolen ice cream, which later led them to the discovery of narcotics, prescription pills and a stolen credit card.
The gas station attendant told police that a black female and a black male had stolen ice cream from the gas station, and left in a light blue SUV, which officers observed leaving the gas station and going north on Telegraph Road. After initiating a traffic stop, police discovered the SUV had a stolen license plate affixed to it. Both suspects were then taken into custody.
Officers later discovered narcotics, narcotic equipment, a stolen credit card and prescription pills that did not belong to either suspect while doing a search of the vehicle, with the suspects being linked to an automobile larceny that had taken place in the area of Maple and Telegraph an hour prior.
Police will be forwarding the report to Oakland County Prosecutor’s Office for review, and anyone with information regarding this case is encouraged to call the Bloomfield Township Police Department at 248.433.7755.
