Items stolen from local cars found in Pontiac

A wallet and coins were stolen Monday, May 17, from a pair of vehicles parked in a residential garage complex in the 1000 block of N. Old Woodward Avenue, Birmingham police said.

One of the victims told police she parks her vehicles in the garage complex of their building, and noticed her vehicle had been rummaged through and her coin purse was missing. She then alerted her husband, who checked his vehicle and noticed his wallet was missing. The wallet contained personal items, credit cards and cash.

The husband later received a phone call from the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office reporting that some of his personal items were turned into the front desk at the sheriff's station in Pontiac, where he was able to retrieve them.

Birmingham police said the vehicles and the garage had both been left unlocked.
