Jeans stolen from downtown business

A $260 pair of jeans was reportedly stolen from a business on the 100 block of West Maple in Birmingham on Saturday, July 8, around 2:00 p.m. by three females, the business reported.

The store manager of the business told police that three women, reportedly between the ages of 25 and 35-years-old, were shopping in the store and trying on clothes when one of them asked about the price of the jeans. According to the manager, the woman was upset after hearing the price, and the suspects left the store and took off in opposite directions with the jeans.

A security tag the women had broken off was found inside the pocket of another pair of jeans, reported the manager.

Birmingham police say an investigation of the theft is ongoing.
