Key, wallet left inside stolen vehicle

A resident came into the Birmingham police station on Thursday, June 16, to report his vehicle, which had been unlocked with the key and a wallet inside, had been stolen overnight from his residence.

The vehicle was stolen overnight from the residence located in the 1800 block of Fairview in Birmingham. It was left unlocked with the key and a wallet inside at the time it has taken, the victim confirmed.

Officers were able to locate and recover the vehicle using its satellite technology, and it was returned to its owner.

The incident is believed to be tied to a string of similar incidents occurring in the area. Birmingham police urge residents to lock their vehicles and take their keys/fobs with them.
