Kill switch stops auto theft in Bloomfield Township

A Dodge Charger Hellcat’s “kill switch” – used to prevent vehicle theft – may have been the saving grace preventing a vehicle being stolen on Sunday, August 13, in Bloomfield Township.

The victim was visiting for the Woodward Dream Cruise when he came out to find the passenger side window completely shattered and the glove box forced open, which is where the “kill switch” was located.

Bloomfield Township police were dispatched to the T.J. Maxx parking lot at 2139 S. Telegraph Road after the victim saw what had been done to his vehicle.

The Bloomfield Township Investigations Unit is currently investigating the case and ask those with information to call 248.433.7755.
