Library evening with historian and photographer
An evening with historian and photographer Jeff Morrison will take place at Bloomfield Township Public Library on Tuesday, December 6, at 7 p.m., where he will discuss his new book, Guardians of Michigan: Architectural Sculpture of the Pleasant Peninsulas.
Morrison will include a presentation of interesting and unique architectural sculpture found on buildings throughout Michigan, as well as the untold stories of the artists, artisans and architects who were the creators of these beautiful architectural buildings.
Along with his new book, Morrison is also the author of Guardians of Detroit: Architectural Sculpture in the Motor City (Wayne State University Press, 2019), which won a State History Award from the Historical Society of Michigan, a Midwest Book Award from the Midwest Independent Publishers Association, and was listed as a Michigan Notable Book by the Library of Michigan. Copies of both books will be available for purchase after the presentation.
Morrison's background is in art and history, and his many years as a visual artist, come through in his passionate exploration and descriptions of historic architecture, said Katherine Bryant, assistant director at the library.
The program on December 6 is free and open to the public. No registration is required.
