The Bloomfield Township Public Library is working on an interior design project to reimagine some of the public spaces and update furnishings and finishes throughout the building and is inviting the public to be part of the project.
While many areas of the library remain vibrant and well-used, others are over 20 years old and show signs of wear or no longer meet the needs of the community, officials said. This project focuses on making better use of underutilized spaces, refreshing high-traffic areas, and enhancing the overall look and feel of the library.
The public is invited to learn more and test out different styles of furniture now on display throughout the library:
Now-October 7 / Furniture Fair: Library patrons can test out different types of seating and vote for their favorites. Dozens of sample pieces are available, including chairs, tables, booths, benches, and more. There are a variety of ways to vote based on comfort, shape, and design.
Thursday, October 16 / Coffee Chats: Library patrons are invited to meet with the library design team to preview floor plans and finishes in casual conversation. Youth Services will be the focus from 9:30 a.m.–11 a.m., then Adult and Teen Services from 6 p.m.–7 p.m. No registration is required to attend.
“We are thrilled to invite the community into the design process as we reimagine the future of the various spaces within the library. This project is about creating welcoming and functional environments that reflect how our patrons use the library today and in the future,” said Bloomfield Township Library Director Tera Moon.
