The Bloomfield Township Library will be presenting a special program on memory loss – Creative Care: Connecting Through Memory Loss – on June 3 to provide resources for connecting with people who are experiencing cognitive challenges.
Participants in this event will learn how to engage with family members, friends or neighbors who may be lonely, frail or experiencing memory loss. They will also learn simple techniques that can create moments of connection.
“The onset of memory loss can be unsettling for both the person experiencing it and those who spend time with them,” said Allyson Coan, adult and teen services librarian. "As the cognitive abilities of those we care about change, it's important to keep engaging and connecting with them in meaningful ways, but memory loss often makes that difficult. The techniques offered through this program are designed to help create moments of connection.”
The free program will be presented at the Bloomfield Township Public Library on Wednesday, June 3, at 2 p.m and will be facilitated by Bloomfield Township Adult Day Services Coordinator Kim Davidson.
Registration via the Bloomfield Township Public Library website (btpl.org) is required for the two-hour program. Further formation is available by contacting the library at (248) 642-5800 or visiting the website.
