Man allegedly threw rocks at cyclist in city

Birmingham police officers arrested a man from Johannesburg the night of Wednesday, July 1, in the area of Peabody and Maple after he was reported for throwing rocks at a bicyclist. 


The bicyclist, an 18-year-old from Royal Oak, and witnesses said he rode past the man who then started chasing him and throwing rocks at him. The man countered, saying the cyclist yelled at him and he picked the rocks up to protect himself. 


In the end, Birmingham police reported they arrested the man for assault and battery and disorderly conduct.
