Man assaulted by girlfriend’s ex-husband

A night out in Birmingham ended rough for a Madison Heights man and his girlfriend on the night of Tuesday, March 19, after the couple were allegedly assaulted by the girlfriend’s ex-husband.
According to the man, he and his girlfriend were at a restaurant when they spotted the ex-husband and decided to leave. When the ex-husband saw them, he reportedly started verbally assaulting both of them. When the couple were walking down N. Old Woodward later that night, the ex-husband allegedly saw them again, stopped and got out of his car and continued where he left off in the restaurant.
The man told police that the situation escalated to the ex-husband grabbing him by the neck. Birmingham police arrested the ex-husband and cited him for assault and battery.
