A Royal Oak man on probation was caught allegedly attempting to break into a home on the 100 block of Grant Avenue in Birmingham the night of Tuesday, November 11, after being instructed to keep away from the victim’s home.

Birmingham police reported that witnesses saw the man looking under the doormat for a key, eventually leaving when he couldn’t find one.

Police state they had previous encounters with the man and were able to identify him immediately.

While the report does not indicate he was arrested, it states that the man was warned a police report would be filed and charges may follow.
