Man caught placing phone to eavesdrop at salon
Birmingham police arrested a man for eavesdropping at Bianchi Salon, 270 N. Old Woodward Avenue in Birmingham, after they received a call around 5:15 on Tuesday, May 10, on a report of a suspicious incident and individual.
According to police, the individual, a 26-year-old male from Clinton Township, entered the salon requesting to use the restroom. After he used the restroom, he requested to make an appointment, at which time he was advised he would need to produce a credit card in order to hold the space. He said he would come back later and left.
Later in the day, the same individual called the salon to make an appointment.
Also later in the day, an employee cleaning the bathroom found a cell phone in the bottom of the trash can, which was on and had been recording for approximately three hours and 40 minutes, about the same amount of time from when the individual had visited the restroom.
The individual returned to the salon, and immediately entered the restroom before exiting moments later, appearing upset.
Officers questioned the individual, who reported that he put the phone in the bathroom to record people, and he knew it was wrong.
The individual was arrested for eavesdropping.
