Man stabs tire at Birmingham City Hall

An 18-year-old man was cited on Friday, August 27, for suspicion of malicious destruction of property after a police officer saw him stab a car tire at Birmingham City Hall at 151 Martin Street.

Birmingham police said an officer at Henrietta and Martin streets saw a man pull a knife from his pocket and stab it into the front tire of a parked vehicle. After talking to the man, police said it was believed he was having a mental episode and attempted to contact his therapist.

Police officers contacted the Birmingham Fire Department for a medical evaluation, which the man declined.
