Several noted national retailers are making plans to join the downtown Birmingham shopping district, according to an announcement from Cindy Ciura, principal of CC Consulting.

The national retailers include rag & bone, long represented in the state by retailers such as Saks and Neiman Marcus, which will open its first standalone Michigan store at 110 S. Old Woodward Ave. in a two-level, lofted retail space currently under construction which will deliver a modern, elevated shopping experience in nearly 2,000 sq. ft. It is expected to open in early 2026, Ciura said.

Joining rag & bone will be Vuori, a fast-growing active and leisurewear brand which will open a nearly 4,000 sq. ft. signature flagship on the southwest corner of Woodward and Maple, in the former temporary RH space, at 100 S. Old Woodward Ave, according to Ciura who said construction is scheduled to begin in early 2026, with opening expected mid-2026.

Also coming to the downtown of Birmingham in 2026 will be J. Jill, the national women’s apparel brand that is preparing to open a new-concept store in the former Moosejaw space on W. Maple, adjacent to the Eileen Fisher store.

News of the arrival of the national retailers follows the recent word that Design Within Reach, the modern furnishings retailer, has signed on to occupy a majority of the former Anthropologie space at 214 W. Maple Road.

Ciura said that the November opening of RH (formerly Restoration Hardware) at Woodward and Brown in the city’s downtown has helped drive additional demand and momentum for Birmingham’s retail core.

“Birmingham has always been a jewel in Michigan’s retail landscape, and these latest leases reaffirm its strength as a destination for national and luxury brands,” said Ciura. “With exceptional retailers like rag & bone, Vuori, Design Within Reach, and J.Jill joining the mix, Birmingham continues to attract some of the finest names in fashion and lifestyle. We’re proud to help bring this level of quality and diversity to the community, further enhancing Birmingham’s reputation as the premier place to shop, dine, and gather – and there’s still more to come.”
