While sitting in a restaurant on the 100 block of Peabody Street in Birmingham on Friday, August 4, a woman from Oak Park was reportedly robbed by her ex-boyfriend.

Birmingham police were called to the restaurant for strong-arm robbery. According to the victim, the man had ripped her necklace and pendant from her neck while she was sitting at the bar. The necklace and pendant were valued at roughly $15,500.

A witness at the restaurant said she followed the suspect out of the restaurant and saw him drive away. Several other witnesses interviewed by police corroborated the victim's story.

Birmingham police said an investigation is currently underway.
