Birmingham City Commissioners are expected to revisit the city’s allowable neighborhood noise levels after brief discussion towards the end of their meeting on Monday, July 13.
Assistant city manager and former police chief Mark Clemence said during the meeting that the existing level is difficult to reach and that it could be looked at and lowered. Mayor Clinton Baller noted prior to Clemence’s statement that he had raised the issue when matter first came before the commission while Clemence was acting police chief.
The commission voted unanimously, 6-0, to place the issue on a future agenda. Staff was directed to review other communities’ standards and return with recommendations on directions the city could take.
