Non-organized city employees will receive a pay bump, effective July 1, after city commissioners approved a market adjustment during the Monday, June 22, meeting.

Human resources director Christina Cilluffo wrote in the meeting packet that the adjustment would apply to non-union administrative, management and permanent part-time employees, which includes 15 department heads, 37 full-time employees, 24 permanent part-time and 18 irregular part-time employees not covered by a collective bargaining unit.

Cilluffo said that since these employees do not participate in collective bargaining negotiation, the commission must approve their market increases each year. The market adjustment recommended to take effect on July 1 is 3.5 percent which she said would address rising costs and support recruitment and retention efforts.

The item was initially on the consent agenda but was pulled by commissioner Andrew Haig. He noted he wanted to bring attention to the item since it related to pay and motioned for approval. Ultimately, commissioners voted unanimously 6-0 to approve the adjustment.
