Two individuals, one being a 16-year-old from Detroit, were stopped by police in Birmingham on Wednesday, November 19, after allegedly stealing merchandise from a clothing store on the 100 block of S. Old Woodward.

A store employee told Birmingham police officers that the pair was carrying a large bag and they were seen heading into the changing rooms with various items. They allegedly left the store with the bag full of items, totaling $1,313, police reported.

Police stated that the 16-year-old was arrested, but his partner was released to their guardian since they did not have any of the merchandise in their possession.

The teen already had an active warrant out of Wayne County for escape from custody, so Birmingham police reported releasing the teen into the county’s custody later on.
