Over $6,000 of goods stolen by city squatter

A Birmingham resident returning from an overseas trip came home on Tuesday, April 4, to find an unknown woman living in her home and roughly $6,300 worth of items missing from her residence on E. 14 Mile Road.

The 32-year-old victim called the police around 5:20 p.m. when she found an unknown female in her home, which the woman stated she rented through a rental website. Reportedly, the victim’s friend listed the house on rental websites while she was out of town.

After the unknown female left the residence, the victim realized that several items were missing from the house, totaling over $6,000.

According to Birmingham police, an investigation into the incident is ongoing.
