Park Summer Concert Series starts June 12

The City of Birmingham’s free, family-friendly In the Park Summer Concert Series returns to Shain Park with weekly outdoor performances from June 12 through August 26, and a new pre-show Kids Zone on July 1 and August 5.

The 2026 lineup features a variety of musical genres performed by local and regional acts. The series kicks off on Friday, June 12, at 7 p.m. with the annual Birmingham Bloomfield Community Coalition Youth Action Board's Teen Summer Concert featuring talented local teens and the Hood Band. Following this event, concerts take place weekly on Wednesdays at 7 p.m.

The new Kids Zone events, from 4 to 6 p.m. before the July 1 and Aug. 5 concerts, offer free high-energy activities for children, including bounce houses, face painting, arts and crafts, games and other interactive fun.

The full concert schedule is as follows:

• Friday, June 12 – Birmingham Bloomfield Community Coalition Youth Action Board’s Teen Summer Concert featuring the Hood Band

• Wednesday, June 17 – Birmingham Concert Band (contemporary wind ensemble with patriotic music for America’s 250th)

• Wednesday, June 24 – Raputa (J. Geils tribute band – rock and roll)

• Wednesday, July 1 – Rebecca Cameron (country) plus Kids Zone 4 to 6 p.m.

• Wednesday, July 8 – Billy Mack and the Juke Joint Johnnies (vintage rock and swing/lounge)

• Wednesday, July 15 – 9D Proof Detroit (alternative rock)

• Wednesday, July 22 – The Detroit Retro Society (Motown, soul and funk)

• Wednesday, July 29 – LL7 Latin Jazz (jazz with vocals)

• Wednesday, Aug. 5 – Zang (rock, pop and country), plus Kids Zone 4 to 6 p.m.

• Wednesday, Aug. 12 – The Steve Taylor Three (folk, country and rock)

• Wednesday, Aug. 19 – Weekend Comeback (rock, pop, Motown, soul, disco and country)

• Wednesday, Aug. 26 – Atomic Annie (‘70s and ‘80s rock and ‘90s alternative)

Concerts take place in Shain Park’s Thomas M. Markus Pavilion on the park’s south end, between Henrietta and Bates streets and Merrill and Townsend streets. Nearby parking is available at the Chester Street and Pierce Street municipal parking structures, where the first two hours are always free.
