Pedestrian dies following parking lot crash

A Birmingham woman hit by a car driven by an elderly man on Sunday, January 30, while walking through the Nino Salvaggio parking lot in the 6000 block of Telegraph Road died from her injuries, Bloomfield Township police said.

Bloomfield Township Police Lt. Bryan Pizzuti said the woman, 50, was walking through a back parking lot at Nino Salvaggio, 6592 Telegraph, when she was struck by a Lincoln MKC driven by an 83-year-old Bloomfield Township resident. Pizzuti said the woman was transported to a local hospital, where she died.

The crash is being investigated by the Bloomfield Township Police Traffic Investigations Unit. Police said speed and alcohol aren’t a factor.

Investigators ask any witnesses to contact the Bloomfield Township Police Department at 248.433.7755.
