Police locate dine-and-dasher and issue ticket

An Illinois man was issued a disorderly conduct ticket on Sunday, August 15, after allegedly skipping out on a restaurant bill in downtown Birmingham and getting into an argument with some kids, police said.


Birmingham police responded about 3:18 p.m. to the Speedway gas station, 34750 Woodward, for a call of a man who left 220 Merrill restaurant without paying his bill. Witnesses told police that the man then got into a confrontation with some male juveniles near Brooklyn Pizza,111 Henrietta Street.


Police said the man, 44, was visibly intoxicated and smelled of alcohol. Officers presented him with the restaurant receipt and inquired about the confrontation. Police said he was then issued a ticket for disorderly conduct.
