Pontiac woman hit by car on Woodward at Maple

A woman from Troy was issued a citation for leaving the scene of an accident after hitting a woman from Pontiac on Woodward Avenue and E. Maple Road in Birmingham on Wednesday, June 28, and then fleeing.

According to witnesses, a red SUV made a wrong turn, causing the car to hit the victim around 11 p.m. Witnesses also saw the suspect flee the scene, only to be stopped later by a Birmingham police officer.

After the driver was stopped, alcohol was ruled out as a contributing factor to the accident, according to police. The Troy woman was ultimately given a citation for leaving the scene.
