Porch pirates hit Birmingham home

A Birmingham resident on Monday, January 3, told police several packages were stolen from his porch in the 1500 block of Stanley Boulevard, authorities said.

Birmingham police said the victim told officers he was out of town on Thursday, December 30, when the packages were delivered and stolen. Police said a witness saw a man about 11:55 p.m. who removed four packages from the victim’s porch.

Police said the man was described as a black male wearing a mask, black jacket, fluorescent lime green vest and matching gloves.

Investigators said the incident is believed to be related to a Saturday, January 1, theft in the 1700 block of Henrietta Street. Police said the victim in that incident told officers a man wearing a high visibility vest took two packages from his porch about 12:24 a.m. that day.

Police said the man was partially covering his face with a third package that didn’t belong to the victim.

Birmingham police report the incidents are under investigation.
