Quarrel and assault in downtown Birmingham

An argument between a group of men on Sunday, June 18, at the corner of Pierce and Maple in downtown Birmingham, turned physical, leading to the arrest of a 25-year-old from Rochester Hills.

According to reports, two men that were walking down Pierce Street around 2:30 a.m. were yelled at by another group of men in a car driving by. The yelling reportedly turned into an argument, eventually turning into a physical altercation. One of the men on Pierce Street, a 25-year-old from Rochester Hills, allegedly pepper sprayed another man in the group, who was from West Bloomfield.

Birmingham police said the Rochester Hills man was arrested for assault and battery.
