Reckless driver nailed for Kroger retail theft

Bloomfield Township police on March18 at approximately 2:20 p.m. were dispatched to Kroger, located at 3600 W. Maple Road, to investigate a reckless driver and improper parking complaint when they discovered a cart full of stolen alcohol outside the store.


Four 24-packs of Modelo Especial, four 12-packs of Tito’s mini shooters, and five bottles of Titos Handmade Vodka were recovered and confirmed stolen from the store less than an hour prior.


Officers reviewed video surveillance from inside the store and determined the driver they were speaking with for improper parking was the suspect in the retail fraud.


The suspect, a 57-year-old Black male from Southfield, was subsequently arrested for retail Fraud and transported back to the Bloomfield Township Police Department where he was processed and released pending charges.
