Resident’s identity stolen through hacked email

A 29-year-old Birmingham resident filed a report with the Birmingham Police Department on Tuesday, December 27, after her identity was stolen.

The victim told police that her email had been hacked and she began receiving notices from several institutions showing suspicious activity in her accounts.

Birmingham police report an investigation is ongoing.
