Resident arrested for false terrorism threat

Bloomfield Township police made an arrest of a local resident on Monday, October 19, on a charge of making a false threat of terrorism.
At 9:44 a.m. on Monday, the Bloomfield Township Police Department was contacted by an employee of 7-Eleven, located at 4890 West Maple Road, regarding a white male inside of the store who was acting erratic and had stolen a pack of Virginia Slims cigarettes. While inside of the store, the male was yelling at patrons, claimed he was a terrorist and referenced explosions.
When officers arrived, the male had already fled from the location on foot and was located minutes later by additional responding officers. The male was identified as Ramzi Braham, of Bloomfield Township, and still had the pack of stolen cigarettes with him.
Braham was arrested at the scene and transported to the Bloomfield Township Police Department. Further investigation was done by the responding officers and detectives. In conjunction with this investigation, a search warrant was conducted at a residence in the 6200 block of Darramoor Road in Bloomfield Township. Out of an abundance of caution, Oakland County SWAT and the Michigan State Police were requested to assist officers conduct in the search, according to police.
The case was presented to the warrants division of the Oakland County Prosecutor’s Office which issued a one-count felony warrant for false report or threat of terrorism, a 20-year felony. Braham was arraigned in the 48th District Court on the same day and was issued a $25,000/10 percent cash or surety bond.
