Rose Room staff attacked by patron over entry fee

An unruly suspect punched a staff member of the Rose Room at 220, located at 220 Merrill Street in Birmingham, on Sunday, July 9, after refusing to pay the entrance fee and being denied entry.

According to two individuals who were with the suspect, the trio was not allowed into the club after refusing to pay the $40 entrance fee. The suspect, a 40-year-old man, allegedly tried to enter and was again denied, leading him to punch a staff member, a 27-year-old from Grosse Pointe Woods, in the throat. Police were called to the establishment.

Birmingham police report an investigation is ongoing.
