Rottweiler mauls elderly woman to death
A 91-year-old Bloomfield Township resident was mauled to death by a Rottweiler on Thursday, September 2, Bloomfield Township police reported, with the animal now being held at the Bloomfield Township Animal Shelter.
Lt. Paul Schwab of the Bloomfield Township Police Investigations Division, reported on Friday, September 3, that at approximately 6:30 p.m. Thursday evening, Bloomfield Township police and fire departments were dispatched to the 2000 block of Berry Drive on the report of a dog attack.
Officers and paramedics found a 91-year-old homeowner unresponsive and seriously injured by a Rottweiler that was living in the home. Bloomfield Township EMS transported the victim to St. Joseph-Mercy Hospital in Pontiac, where the woman later succumbed to her injuries.
The case is currently under investigation.
