A Detroit woman allegedly responsible for multiple thefts from a retailer in both Birmingham and Troy at the Somerset Collection was caught and arrested by Birmingham police after attempting to hit the Birmingham location again.

The manager of the store located at the 100 block of S. Old Woodward told Birmingham police that on the night of Monday, May 26, two women tried to return items but were denied by the store’s system. One of the women allegedly stole more items on their way out of the store.

Birmingham officers found the two women walking across Maple and ultimately arrested the one who left the store with the stolen merchandise. Officers reportedly found receipts for returns to the Somerset Collection location as well as various security tags attached to stolen merchandise.

Over $1,8000 in stolen merchandise was also found in her car.

The name of local businesses are never provided by Birmingham police.
