Speeding driver caught with drugs, open alcohol
While running radar at Woodward and Wimbledon in Birmingham, police officers observed a vehicle speeding and driving erratically around 1 a.m. on Friday, August 30.
The officers conducted a traffic stop on southbound Woodward just south of 14 Mile and called for additional officers.
A 29-year-old Eastpointe female driver appeared intoxicated and admitted to consuming alcohol and cocaine earlier in the evening. She initially resisted officers several times before undergoing sobriety evaluations. When placed under arrest, a search of her vehicle during impounding revealed an open container of alcohol as well as a bag containing a white, powdery substance along with drug paraphernalia.
She was arrested and issued multiple citations including operating under the influence, resisting an officer and drug possession.
