Stolen car in police pursuit, dumped in Southgate

When Birmingham police showed up at the 1000 block of Graefield in Birmingham, they were planning to tell a resident their car was currently involved in a police pursuit.

The victim, however, had not even realized the car was missing.

According to police on Monday, January 29, around 4 a.m. a Birmingham officer went to the home on Graefield to alert the vehicle owner of the situation, but they weren’t available to talk with him. Later, the resident called 911 and reported the car missing.

He reportedly told police that the car was locked and he had both sets of keys with him. When police found the car in Southgate, they reported that there was no sign of forced entry.

Birmingham police say an investigation is currently underway.
