Stolen vehicles evade police in Birmingham

A vehicle stolen in Bloomfield Township followed by a second vehicle stolen in Birmingham evaded both Birmingham and Bloomfield Township police in the early morning hours of Monday, December 9, eventually fleeing in Beverly Hills.

After one of the vehicles had been reported stolen by Bloomfield Township police, Birmingham police tried to stop the driver on Maple Road, near Radnor Street, and the second driver that was following the stolen car. Both drivers fled on Maple to Southfield Road, eventually driving in Beverly Hills where Beverly Hills police took over the chase.

Birmingham police officers were able to find the registered owners of the second vehicle and went to the residence, which was located on the 200 block of South Glenhurst. The residents confirmed with Birmingham police that their vehicle was missing from the driveway where it had been parked. Reportedly, the key fob was left in the car, and police say no signs of forced entry or broken glass.

Birmingham police say an investigation is ongoing.
