Stolen wallet while shopping leads to fraud

A woman who had her wallet taken from her purse while shopping at Nino Salvaggio's, 6592 Telegraph Road in Bloomfield Township, discovered someone used one of her credit cards to purchase over $1,000 of groceries at another local store.

The victim contacted Bloomfield Township police on Wednesday, November 18, after discovering that someone took her wallet from her purse while shopping at Nino Salvaggio's. She admitted to leaving her purse open and unattended while shopping.

She said that inside of the wallet was her photo ID and several credit cards.

Shortly after realizing her wallet had been stolen, her husband received a fraud alert on his cellphone that someone had used one of her credit cards to purchase over $1,000 worth of groceries at a local store.

The Bloomfield Township Police Department recommends you do not leave purses and wallets unsecured and unattended while shopping.

The case is currently under investigation.
