Stolen Yukon found while video links auto thefts

A stolen GMC Yukon was recovered after being taken from a Bloomfield Township resident’s driveway during the early morning of Monday, September 11.

The vehicle being taken from the driveway of a residence in the 700 block of Oakleigh after something awoke the victim, who then called Bloomfield Township police after seeing his vehicle had been taken.

Bloomfield Township police were made aware of other automobile thefts from the 2000 block of Colonial Way during their investigation. A homeowner on Colonial Way had video surveillance that showed the stolen Yukon pull-up and an unknown male got out, before approaching a different GMC pickup truck, then rummaging through that vehicle.

The area was searched and the GMC Yukon was eventually located in the 2700 block of Colonial Trail, where a police K9 from the Royal Oak Police Department was called to the scene to search the area.

The suspect was not found.

Township police report the case is under investigation by the Bloomfield Township Investigations Unit. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Bloomfield Township Police Department at 248.433.7755.
