A former employee of a Birmingham store on the 100 block of S, Old Woodward Avenue is being investigated for embezzlement after another employee stated he had been stealing from return transactions for close to a year.

The employee who reported the theft told Birmingham police officers that between June 2024 and March 2025, the accused former employee, a 23-year-old from Macomb Township, purchased clothes using his employee discount and then processed the returns himself for the full retail prices. He allegedly used the scheme 16 different times, stealing a total of $6,100.

Birmingham police say an investigation is ongoing.
