String of related larcenies hits Birmingham
Over the past week, several Birmingham residents have fallen victim to thefts from their cars in what Birmingham police report could likely be a string of related incidents.
On Sunday, June 11, larcenies from vehicles were reported on the 700 block of Hazelwood Avenue, the 200 block of Greenwood Avenue, 200 block of Pilgrim, 600 block of Woodland and 400 block of Puritan. Two victims reported seeing a suspect, describing him as a male wearing a sweatshirt and sweatpants. One of the two victims also stated that the man was wearing a black ski mask and grey gloves and looks about 5’8’’ tall.
The police reports from June 11 state that several items were stolen from inside the cars parked in front of the residences between 1:30 a.m. to just after 2:30 a.m. It was indicated that many of the vehicles were left unlocked.
On Monday, June 12, another larceny was reported by two residents living in the 500 block of Lake Park whose cars had been broken into at the same house. Several items were reported missing from the two vehicles, totaling approximately $170. Neither could remember if the cars had been locked at the time.
According to Birmingham police, most of the incidents are believed to be related, but they do not have any additional witnesses or suspects.
