Subway smash and grab leaves thief with nothing

Around 8 a.m. Sunday, March 3, Bloomfield Township police were dispatched to Subway, 1619 S. Opdyke Road, where a burglary had occurred at around 5:30 a.m.

According to police, an unknown suspect smashed the glass door of the establishment and was seen on video surveillance removing the cash register from the counter. As the register opened in the thief's hands, coupons fell out. However, much to the suspect's disappointment, there was no cash in the register.

The cash register was left on the ground, and the suspect fled the store.

This case is currently being investigated by the Bloomfield Township Investigations Unit. Anyone with information regarding this case is urged to contact the Bloomfield Township Police Department at 248.433.7755.
