Suspect swipes woman’s wallet mid-conversation

While making small talk with a stranger on Tuesday, February 20, a woman from Grand Blanc reportedly had her wallet stolen by the stranger’s alleged accomplice at a Birmingham business.

The victim was shopping at a store on the 2000 block of E. Maple Avenue when she claimed a man approached her and started a conversation. She told police that she noticed her wallet missing after their conversation.

Witnesses reported seeing a female take the victim’s wallet while she was talking to the man. Police confirmed in their report that the woman’s credit cards were used at various locations, but all the transactions had fortunately been declined.

Birmingham police said an investigation is ongoing.
